Description: One of the other great innovations in weapons of war amongst the Helic Republic was the Wild Weasel Unit. The Wild Weasel Unit - there's a name that strikes fear in the hearts of men. An external apparatus, four AZ144mm Cannons, four AZ188mm Cannons, 3D Doppler Radar, and a Built-In Targetting computer all wrapped into one neat little package. That's a truely fearsome amount of firepower, right there. An arsenal to rival that of some the less well-armed Zoid X's.

Now for a little bit of history. The Wild Weasel Unit was developed by our good engineer friends at the Helic Republic in response to (surprise, surprise) the heavily armored and heavily armed Imperial Zoids on the high end of the spectrum, such as the Horn Family and the Iron Kongs. Now, the Helic Republic new well enough that they could call on their own high-end Zoids to destroy the opposing high-end Zoids, but they just didn't want things to work that way. After all, while waiting for the cavalry, you could loose many Godos, Command Wolves, or whatever slightly cheaper Zoids you had thrown onto the front lines.

One solution to this was the Gun Sniper. Build an AZ144mm Cannon into the tail of a cheaper Zoid, and you could waste those heavily armored Zoids. But it just wasn't enough. It takes more firepower, more AZ144mm Cannons, to give a good 1-to-1 ratio of small-scale Helic Republic Zoids to the large-scale Imperial Zoids. So, we come to the Wild Weasel Unit.

But what exactly is the Wild Weasel Unit? Two sets of absolutely MASSIVE guns. Four AZ144mm Cannons and Four AZ188mm Cannons. Capable of firing a volley every two seconds, that's something for a Dark Horn to fear. Throw in a 3D Doppler Radar station on the back and a Built-In Targetting Computer on said station, and good luck to anyone who faces this part down. The Built-In Targetting Computer gives the Wild Weasel Unit a rough 15% boost in accuracy for the Wild Weasel Unit itself. So good luck to anyone trying to fight this thing.

Alright, so now you know the upsides of the Wild Weasel Unit. Let's discuss the drawbacks. First and foremost, the Wild Weasel Unit can be deathly inaccurate. Though it has no such requirement, it is highly recommended that Gun Sniper pilots lock down while firing to compensate for recoil. If at all possible, Godos pilots should find something to brace their Zoids against. Secondly, contrary to popular belef, the Wild Weasel Unit doesn't disallow use of Sniper Mode in a Gun Sniper. It merely impairs it. A Gun Sniper with a Wild Weasel Unit takes 2 seconds to come into or out of Sniper Mode, rather than 1, and can overbalance the Gun Sniper in Sniper Mode, wreaking havoc with the aiming. That being said, it can be done. You just have to do it more carefully. Also, every gun on the Wild Weasel Unit is fixed in place, so you'll have to move the Zoid to move your fire. Lastly, Gun Sniper or Godos, any Zoid equipping the Wild Weasel Unit takes a 50 kph detraction to speed thanks to the unit's weight, and a corresponding maneuverability loss. So think about this carefully before you go through with it.

And now, thanks to the magic of the public domain blueprints of the Customizable Parts line, the Wild Weasel Unit is available to pilots around the world. Just make sure you can foot the bill first.
