Cost: $10,000
Weight: 25 Tons
Function: Anti-Shield Fire
Mounts On: Barigator, Cannon Tortoise, Shadow Fox, Stealth Viper
Mount Location:
--On the Barigator, the Large-Bore Beam Cannon replaces the 4-Shot Missile Launcher. This modification may not be used with the Attack Unit.
--On the Cannon Tortoise, the Large-Bore Beam Cannon mounts on top of the Mortar Cannon. This modification may not be used with the Attack Unit, Gatling Mortar, or the Fuel Air Explosives.
--On the Dark Thrasher, the Large-Bore Beam Cannon mounts to the machinegun mount, replacing the Twin 60mm Machineguns. This modification cannot be used with the Assault Unit, Flak Cannon, or Attack Unit.
--On the Shadow Fox, the Large-Bore Beam Cannon replaces the AZ30mm Laser Vulcan.
--On the Stealth Viper, the Large Bore-Beam Cannon mounts ontop of the Zoid's head and neck, and stabilizers replace the 40mm Heavy Machineguns. This modification may not be used with the Attack Unit.
In Brief: The Large-Bore Beam Cannon is a powerful, large-area, high-power beam cannon best used against shields. It comes with a speed penalty to all Zoids that mount it but the Cannon Tortoise. Reflective Metal Ice Armor does not affect it.

Weapon Type: Large-Bore Beam Cannon
Ammunition: High Intensity Beams
Rate of Fire: 1 round per 2 seconds

Description: It's been said that the Helic Republic had a way with large, immense weapons that seem ludicrous, almost comical, when compared to the size of the Zoid they're mounted on. 250mm cannons on the Command Wolf? Ridiculous, one might think - until the Attack Unit came to the fore. The small velociraptor-typed Gun Sniper carries an AZ144mm Sniper Rifle, if you need another example. Well, there was a method to the madness of the Helic Republic. The old titans of the Empires, including the Red Horn, Iron Kong, and Dark Horn, simply couldn't be beaten without large guns. The Gun Sniper and the Attack Unit are merely a few examples of Helic ingenuity - winning solutions to the lose-lose situation.

Another invention of the Helic Republic was the Large-Bore Beam Cannon, a modification designed to keep the larger Guylos Zoids at bay. Long before the Shield Liger ever found its way onto the shield, this weapon was under development. When it was finally finished, it was first mounted to the Cannon Tortoise, then the Barigator, then the Stealth Viper. It fit. Amazing. (The ability of the Shadow Fox to mount it was a design point of the Shadow Fox, not the other way around.) The pure, massive size of this weapon made it not really equivalent or comparable to any solid-shot cannon, because it worked slightly differently. The Large-Bore Beam Cannon puts out enormous power with every shot, but because it disperses it over a very large area, it kind of damages the entire flank of the opponent at once. It can melt and slough armor like a plasma torch, and it generally effective at anti-armor duty.

Disadvantage, the Helic Republic saw? Slow firing. The weapon requires a 2-second charging period after every shot. Also, due to the pure bulk of the weapon, it is fixed facing forwards on every Zoid but the Cannon Tortoise (on which it points wherever the mortar cannon points.) Also, it slows all Zoids that mount it but the Cannon Tortoise by 75 kph, and comes with a corresponding maneuverability penalty. Still, if it takes out a Dark Horn's Hybrid Vulcan Cannon, its a welcome addition to the team.

What the Helic Republic didn't know was that they'd concocted a powerful shield-buster weapon. In the world of shields, where the area over which the power of the beam is distributed doesn't matter, this weapon reigns supreme. A normal E-Shield will drop in just 1-2 (usually 2 hits from 100%) hits, and even a Hyper E-Shield will drop in just 4-5 hits. This emergent usage of the Large-Bore Beam Cannon accounts for its recent ressurection as a common modification. Second is also the useful trait that the Large-Bore Beam Cannon gets to laugh at Reflective Metal Ice Armor, which seems to react differently to High Intensity Beams.

And now, thanks to the magic of the public domain, the Large-Bore Beam Cannon has been released into the Customizable Parts line. Any pilot, anywhere in the world, can pick one up. Just pay for it, and its yours.
