Name: Viking Lance Weapon Type: Chargeable Armor-Piercing Lance Description: The Hammerhead is, beyond the shadow of a doubt, a powerful and versatile machine. It is capable of flying and swimming, packs a powerful arsenal that can down all but the toughest of opponents, and take a tremendous beating before sinking in either air or water. However, the fine people at the Helic Republic were forever looking for ways to improve this already potent and diverse fighting machine. That was the bit that proved problematic. The thing is a shark at heart, and can't take the modifications of a dedicated aerial Zoid. Its unconventional design bars many of the modifications meant for terrestrial Zoids and other hybrids, as well. But, one late night in a conference room, someone asked, "Why don't we give it a harpoon?" And so it came to pass that the Viking Lance was developed. The Viking Lance, though it replaces the Twin Dual Mini-Impact Cannons on the Hammerhead, is massive, fixed 10-ton spear that sticks out from under the chest and chin of the Zoid, capable of being charged with energy for massive piercing power. With the speed and power of the Hammerhead behind it, there's almost nothing, land or sea, that this Lance can't skewer. It also allows for a fast kill against a heavily armored terrestrial target, something that when compounded with the Hammerhead's torpedos, can be extremely lethal. The same can be said underwater: be on the receiving end of this, and I guarentee that you'll sink, rather than swim. Be it noted though... this isn't an ideal dogfighting weapon. As a matter of fact, it's quite probable that no one in the history of the Viking Lance has poked down an aircraft with it. Best leave that to the Storm Sworders and the Orudios, that's what they're there for. Where the idea to mount it on the Command Wolf came from: your guess is as good as mine. Somebody somewhere along the way probably just decided to mount it to one of the Helic jacks-of-all trades to see if it helps the smaller Zoid much. It works fine (doesn't even replace the back-mounted cannons) but slows the Command Wolf by 50 kph and gives it a severe maneuverability penalty. But still, even in the jabbing power is reduced by reduced speed, the Viking Lance still packs a punch. And this magnificent weapon can be yours, thanks to the magic of the public domain Customizable Parts line. Available wherever Hammerhead pilots dream. |
