Name: Great Sabre Upgrade Description: 'Twas many, many years ago that the Imperium finally gave into the demands of their field officers and veteran pilots and created a new, high-end version of the Zaber Fang. The Great Sabre, as it was called, wreaked havoc against the Helic Republic on the field of battle and, some would say, matching the Blade Liger stride for stride. However, emotional attachment of a pilot to a Zoid runs deep. Many pilots did not wish to trade in their old Zaber Fang for these new Great Sabres. This turned out to work out in the favor of the Imperium, as its cheaper to modify old Zaber Fangs than to produce brand-new Great Sabres. Years went by, the Empire crumbled, and the ZBC rose up as the dominant power on Zi. The venerable Zaber Fang, now centuries since first seen on the field of battle, was one of the most common and popular Zoids on Zi. They transfered the Great Sabre Upgrade into the CP parts line and the public domain - and now, it's not just the government that can do it. Walk into a store, ask them for a Great Sabre Upgrade, and here's what they'll do to your Zaber Fang. First, they strip each and every modification you have on the thing and throw it all in the dumpster. If you have a permanent modification that's unavailable to the Great Sabre, the upgrade is impossible. If your Zaber Fang had a Hybrid Vulcan Cannon or other modification available to the Great Sabre, it gets to keep it as a Great Sabre. Otherwise, thrown out the window. The Great Sabre has no hardpoints for them, or needs the internal space, or similar. Next, they'll rewire your Composite Sensory Unit to be able to transmit data. Then, they'll add on extra armor plating, add boosters, add or change parts of the various mechanisms all around the Fang, swap out the weapons, and add the Flight Pack and two 8-Shot Mortar Pods. Then, you end up with a Great Sabre and a $35,000 bill. Simple as that. Now, as I mentioned earlier, this is public domain in the CP parts line. It is also very expensive despite that, and it is also very, very permanent. You need to think carefully about what you want. Once your Zoid is a Great Sabre, it can never go back. |
