In Brief: Sabre Rounds enhance the power of all solid shot weapons on the equipped Zoid, moderating increasing the penetration and surface damage dealt by the rounds they fire.

Description: The Extra Potential corporation, after much sweat and toil, developed a modification that the marketing department decided to call "Sabre Rounds", a type of ammunition named after its testing exclusively in the Zaber Fang (aka the "Sabre Tiger"). Now, these were exactly what they sounded like: a new and better kind of ammunition, not quite topping AZ cannons, but giving a moderate boost to both penetrating power and surface-damage dealing power of solid-shot weapons. The secret to the round lay in a combination of the material the round was made of, and the addition of rather volatile agents to the inside of the penetrator.

There was one problem: the Extra Potential corporation did not initially see any way they could sell the things. In addition to the fact that ammunition expended in sanctioned Zoid Battles is bought by the local government, not the pilots (who are the EP parts' target market), the Extra Potential corporation does not sell ammunition. They simply did not have the facilities to produce it, nor were they willing to spend money building such facilities. However, the research scientists of the EP company pointed out the obvious: they need not sell the rounds. The Sabre bullets themselves are extremely volatile, and require special storage inside the Zoid itself. Couldn't they sell that?

Within a week, the EP corporation has entered into a business partnership with a select ammunition manufacturer. Within a month, the containment unit for the Sabre Rounds, which is what the pilot buys when he or she purchases this part, was available on the open market. The ZBC, NHR, NBD, or whatever your local government is buys the rounds, so it's no extra burden on the pilot. Just one initial, down payment - then no others. And the new weapons are yours.

In terms of performance, the Sabre Rounds work beautifully. They never prematurely detonate within the containment (well, after those lawsuits, they don't anymore), and do what they were built to. They enhance normal guns to be almost as effective as AZ weaponry in terms of penetration, and the explosion of the rounds causes extra surface damage as well. These beauties really shine where the weapon is already AZ, though, greatly increasing the capabilities of the weapons. Everyone from heavy tanks like the Dark Horn to more subtle marksmen like the Gun Sniper benefit from these bullet. The catch, of course, is that this upgrade does nothing to energy weapon (including thermic), so be careful before you purchase.
